Are you sitting there saying “a soca review in October...really? HELL ya I am!!!!! It’s never too late to bust a SOCA Session especially for my hardcore soca heads out there. DJ BASS has done it again with another rammed jammed Soca Session. It’s definitely a great 2013 mix and has a serious dance flow. DJ BASS starts off big (as you can tell by the song list) and takes you on a musical soca journey. For all those who can’t make Miami Carnival (*tear*) put this CD on and you should be good to go! Soca Session 2013 will keep you on your feet, I guarantee it. DJ BASS has jammed this CD with all the popular and biggest hits of 2013. With the likes of Bunji Garlin, Machel Montano, Blaxx, Fay-Ann Lyons, Ravi B, Kerwin Du Bois, Super Blue, Denise Belfon, KI, Cassi, Olatunji just to name a few. I especially like the mix on Track #14 - Machel Montano, Kerwin Du Bois feat. Ladysmith Black Mambazo – Possessed. Check the mix starting at 1:16 and onwards right into Bunji Garlin’s BIG chuneeeeeee Differentology. Crazzzy! The production, the mixes and ingenious behind the method and the well put together mix is INSANE. If yall don’t love music, yall just don’t know nor will you truly understand. Putting together a CD of this magnitude takes work and thought. What I also appreciate about this CD is the transition from one song to the next. If you’re jamming you don’t even realize it until another lyric happens because, mix after mix, DE TING SMOOTH. It’s big chune after big chune. It just sneaks up on you. I’m sure you’ll be yelling, “Oh snap that’s my jam” over and over again. I can also appreciate the fact that we have some chutney tings happening as well. Starting from track 24 right into track 27 (and track 44 as well) and then back to some SOCA chunes again. You have to appreciate there’s almost NO talking at all on this CD.
